Tim Bartel shared a challenging message based on Luke 12:13-21 titled “Wealth or Life?” on Feb 24, 2008. He asked two questions:
- Would you consider yourself to be wealthy?
- Does God see you as wealthy?
Tim exposited the account of the man who wanted Jesus to do him a favour and tell his brother to divide the family inheritance, and the account of a man who attributed the means of his wealth to himself, and then made a name for himself and took it easy. He concludes by asking us to examine ourselves, leaving us with the challenge in Luke 12:21: Are you storing up treasure for yourself, or are you rich towards God? How would you answer the above two questions now after hearing the message?

Richard Ang presented the third lesson of the series on the Gospel of Mark on Feb 24, 2008. The purpose of this lesson is two-fold:
- To better appreciate the authority of Jesus over sickness and demons, and
- To better appreciate the authority of Jesus over law and institutions.

Dave Barker shared the second message in his two-part series on Jesus’ teaching on how we are to pray. Dave discussed the principles behind:
- Matt 6:11: “Give us this day our daily bread”
- We pray this so that we don’t worry and become consumed with it. Such is unbelief, and all unbelief is sin.
- Matt 6:12,14-15: “Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone that sins against us.”
- Matt 6:13: “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

- To highlight the importance of “kingdom,” and
- To introduce the (suffering) servant who inaugurates the Kingdom.
(The first audio below is the teaching presented by Richard Ang, which is followed by a short reflection and prayer by Joy Richardson)

Richard Ang began the first lesson today in the Fellowship Hall on the series on The Gospel of Mark. The purpose of lesson 1 is to show the context of the Gospel, and to show the structure and themes of Mark.
I apologize that I don’t have audio for this lesson, but I will do my best to get it for next week. I had my MP3 recorder on, but I neglected to press the record button.

Chris Price shared the Word of God with us this weekend, and the text he spoke on was Luke 11:37-54 which addressed the topic of religious legalism.
Throughout Jesus’ earthly ministry, He engaged in a constant dialogue and debate with the Jewish religious leaders. When addressing these religious leaders, Jesus’ words are sometimes like a hammer that is meant to shatter their self-righteousness, hypocrisy and religious legalism. This is one such occasion.

Dave Barker spoke on Prayer based on Luke 11:1-13. He referred to 3 kinds of prayer:
- Logistical — focuses on my own personal needs (temporal perspective)
- Tactical — focuses on helping others (temporal perspective)
- Strategic — focuses on God’s ultimate objectives for the world (eternal perspective)
