The Book of James
The book of James has been called the Proverbs of the New Testament. It has been classified as New Testament wisdom literature (The Old Testament wisdom literature would include Proverbs, Song of Songs and Ecclesiastes). It is a book rich in theological insight and practical advice. The book deals with trials and temptations, faith and works, mercy and compassion, money, prayer, wisdom, humility, healing, conflict, the power of words, and the relationships we commit to and the plans we make.
Tat Stewart from TALIM ministries graced us with his presence and stirred our hearts through his message, “Iran: A Nation Thirsty for God,” and stories of what God is doing in Iran and around the world. He lived in Iran from when he was 12 months old and is the son of American missionaries. He is fluently bi-lingual and ministers to Iranian Ministry leaders in many countries.
Please pray for Tat and his work, and also that God would raise up workers in the Canadian harvest field and that He would move in the hearts of immigrants in Canada and abroad.

Daryl Busby shared a message on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2008 entitled “Helping iPod Kids Love God” from Deut 6:4-23. Prior to this, Drago Adam shared about his marriage counseling experience (see photo below).
How can we help our children hear the voice of God over the sound of their iPods? The book of Deuteronomy was written for the NEXT Generation that would inherit the future. Their old Pastor, Moses, talks to the parents about this future generation.

On the weekend of May 3-4, 2008, and after communion, Dave Barker shared about the authority of Jesus as presented in Luke 20.
Dave donned some casual clothes and asked whether or not anyone would listen to him; next he changed into a suit with jacket and tie and asked the same question again. Do we perceive authority by the clothes that people wear? The accent or manner in which they speak? Dave reminded us of all the symbols of authority that we have in our lives, things like passports, identification badges, bank cards, certificates and the like.
