This is the fifth sunday school class in the series on Romans: The Gospel of Paul. In this class we’re covering chapter 7. This lecture is divided into 3 parts:

1. The first part is led by Richard Ang on Suffering and our state in the flesh, Rom:7:1-6
2. Ryan Schatz led the second part on upholding the law, its proper use and relationship and use for the believer, both OT and NT, Rom 7:7-13
3. Richard Ang finished off the lecture discussing the powerlessness of the law to overcome sin, Rom 7:14-25

This was the third sunday school class in the series on The Life of Paul. This class covered more detail on the events in the life of Paul following his conversion through the first missionary journey. The focus was mainly on Acts 13-14, though we only got through chapter 13 in the class.

THE LIFE OF PAUL

Beginning March 15 for 7 Sundays until May 3 (with a break for Easter) we’ll be looking at the life of Paul through the eyes of Luke.  These are recorded for us in the Acts of the Apostles and cover one of the most exciting times of early church history.  Meet in the Downstairs Fellowship Hall at 11:00 am.  Registration begins March 1 (or online using the form below) and the classes start on March 15.  Dr. Brian Rapske of ACTS Seminaries will take the last class.

Dr. Larry Perkins spoke about the resurrection of Jesus based on the account in Mark 16 on Sunday, April 13. This was the last class in the series on the Gospel of Mark. Dr. Perkins addressed both the resurrection and the textual difficulties with Mark 16:9-20.

Richard Ang will be sharing the 7th lesson on the series of the gospel of Mark. This lesson is entitled: “Judgment and Love” and will look primarily at Mark 12:1-22 and Mark 12:28-34.

Overview:

This parable is a logical follow up from the events of the temple and the curse of the fig tree (Mark 11); links up with the parable of the soils and complements the motif of the vine and branches (John 15:6). It also reflects the language of Isa 5:1-7. The leaders do not know it but Jesus’ arrival marks the fullness of time as judgment comes with the most momentous event in history.

The discussion time was led by John Richardson.

In this lesson, we looked primarily at how the Scribes and Pharisees - people who have the word of God but who fail to comprehend it - prevent faith from coming upon themselves. Richard touched on passages in both Mark 6 and 7.

Following the lesson, Richard dashed off to preach upstairs as the rest of us went through discussion and questions led by John Richardson.
